He/she is responsible for the operation and quality assurance of image processing, patient monitoring and the x-ray equipment.
The electrophysiology technologist participates in the daily activities of the lab by assisting scrub and monitor roles.
Provides and insures quality care for patients as indicated by their clinical condition.
Meets the human needs of high-risk cardiac patients by explaining, educating and reassuring the patients throughout the procedure.
Performs in the scrub role setting up sterile field, preparing patient for exam and assisting physician during procedures.
Assists with pacemaker, AICD, and intraventricular device implants.
Assists with right heart, ventricular and atrial fibrillation ablations.
Performs in the monitor role by observing and documenting hemodynamic, EKG, and pressure waveforms.
Records information related to equipment use, procedural occurrences, and complications that occur during the case.
Ensures that time-outs occur prior to beginning procedures.
Serves as liaison between the floor nurse and the electrophysiology lab personnel by reporting patient follow-up care post cath orders and any procedure complications.
