60Position Overview This position is being reposted and previous applicants are still being considered and do not need to reapply The major purpose of this position is to assist staff and the Environmental Health Director in carrying out the administrative duties of the Division.
Examples of Duties Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:
Work closely with the staff in all facets to promote optimum performance for the good of public health.
Render the necessary support and assistance to Environmental Health management support personnel.
Take complaints in person, by telephone and by email from individuals.
Research copies for septic tank and well permits.
Assists the public by researching for copies of septic tank and well permits.
Employee is subject to be called upon anytime to help the agency respond to a public health emergency which may include, but is not limited to, outbreak investigations, staffing mass dispensing or immunization clinics, providing disaster relief, or other incidents (man-made or natural and intentional or non-intentional) as they arise, or any public health response requested by the Health Director.
Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of office assistant/secretarial experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities General knowledge of office procedures, methods and practices.
General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation and specialized vocabulary; ability to proofread.
Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, personal computer skills including knowledge and experience using Windows based programs and internet.
Experience working with public.
Must possess revenue and accounting skills.
Must have or obtain and maintain a valid North Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Background check and negative drug test are required.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
