Attorney
Responsibilities:
Meet with Clients:
Meet with clients in various locations, including virtually and by phone, to review facts and develop case strategies.
Conduct Research:
Conduct research on cases, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing evidence.
Research case law, statutes, crime codes, and procedural law.
Negotiate and Advocate:
Negotiate with the prosecution when applicable to plea bargain for lesser charges.
Attend all pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide strategic advice.
Conduct trials and administrative proceedings as required.
Case Management:
Manage civil court cases from investigation to appeal, developing tailored litigation strategies.
Legal Drafting:
Research and analyze legal issues, laws, and regulations.
Draft and file legal documents, including lawsuits, appeals, and motions.
Required
Qualifications:
NC bar admission required.
Ability to handle a high caseload.
Establish strong client-attorney relationships through virtual or in-person meetings.
Exceptional investigative and research skills to build strong defense cases.
In-depth understanding of state and local rules, court procedures, and evidentiary laws.
Excellent oral and written advocacy skills for courtroom presentations.
Proven experience in criminal law with successful case management and advocacy.
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
Commitment to justice and compassionate understanding of clients' situations.
Be able to travel by car to nearby counties.
Preferred Skills &
Experience:
Spanish Bilingual:
Proficiency in Spanish is a plus.
Admission to South Carolina Bar:
Being admitted to the South Carolina Bar is a plus.
