Summary:
Ensures compliance with all Company and governmental safety and health regulations and standards by deploying safety program direction with key corporate and plant level stakeholders. Directly accountable for planning, developing, implementing, and administering safety, health and environmental policies, programs, and training. While this role reports directly to the Corporate Director, Safety and Risk Management, it ensures local expertise of safety and risk issues, develops and oversees programs, processes and procedures for the complex to control accident and health exposures and minimize OSHA citations.

Essential Functions, Duties &
Responsibilities:
o Program Management: Protects the Company's employees and assets against losses, injuries and accidents by directing, implementing, and overseeing the administration of safety, health and key loss prevention programs. Partners with Operations Management and Human Resources to deploy and implement the Safety Process and to fully prepare facilities for OSHA VPP accreditation. Responsible for establishing and delivering workers' compensation cost reduction and containment practices and processes.
o Investigates serious injuries in conjunction with line and staff personnel. Notifies top management of pertinent details.
o Evaluates hazardous conditions and practices and develops hazard control practices and programs.
o Guides and assists plant personnel at locations with critical safety and health problems.
o Plans and directs safety and industrial hygiene services and monitors third party administration of the Workers Compensation program.
o Establishes effective plant level Emergency Action Planning and ensures readiness of required resources and personnel.
o Collaborates with key plant personnel in development of disaster planning and business resumption activities.
o Compliance: Ensures regulatory compliance by overseeing OSHA, DOT, and other compliance related activities. Protects the Company's employees and assets against losses, injuries and accidents through enforcement of safe work practices. Prevents accidents and other safety exposures by investigating, identifying causes, and developing preventative measures and practices.
o Assists line and staff management to understand OSHA regulations and standards, including guidance on handling OSHA compliance, inspections, and citations.
o Keeps apprised of developments in federal and state safety laws likely to affect the company.
o Communication: Builds successful business partnerships by effectively communicating with internal customers, including but not limited to, Corporate Safety and Risk Management, Human Resources, Operations, Engineering and all other departments and employees. Reports to above groups and individuals on safety issues and performance.
o Partners with local management in communicating hazard control information and evaluates effectiveness of the control.
o Safety Training: Meets safety and risk management goals by developing and implementing training programs consistent with governmental regulations and business and customer needs.
o Risk Mitigation: Mitigates risk exposure by identifying sources of safety and health risk and developing needed programs, policies, and procedures. Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation.
o Acts as ranking company representative in dealing with government agencies on safety and health matters affecting the company.
o Investigates fatalities or serious injuries that occur at company facilities.
o Process Improvements: Ensures internal and external customer satisfaction by recommending best practices. Drives, implements, sustain, and develop quality process improvements that focus on safety, operations and customer service.
o Overviews company accident statistics and makes recommendations for correction of problem areas.
o Works with trade and professional organizations to promote goals and objectives in the health and safety area that affect company's business.
o Establishes target areas and long-range accident prevention and cost-control objectives.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
o Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other Safety and Health Regulations
o Understanding of the state workers compensation regulations.
o Working knowledge of medical protocols.
o Knowledge of state and federal food defense requirements.
o Use of computers to communicate, collect and analyze data, and for presentations, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other operations applications is a plus.
o Ability to persuasively communicate with all levels of management. Strong training and presentation skills.

Education &
Experience:
o Requires seven (7) to ten (10) years progressively responsible safety related experience to include at least three (5) years management experience. .
o Bachelor's degree, preferably relating to Safety and Health.
o Maintain fluency in all areas of OSHA including, but not limited to, CFR 1910 and 1928 as well as legislation affecting these areas.
o Occupational Health-Safety and/or accredited professional certification preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
