Physician Emergency Medicine

We are seeking a physician who is ABEM/AOBEM Board Certified / board eligible in Emergency Medicine (highly preferred) or board certified in Family Practice/Internal Medicine with at least 5 years of emergency medicine experience to staff the UCC / ED and ensure compliance with Veterans Health Administration guidelines for Emergency Management at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center. This will include developing and implementing improved ED processes and business practices, training of emergency medicine residents and collaboration with community partners. This position is full time direct clinical care. The Fayetteville VA Medical Center Emergency Department provides care to approximately 28,000 patients per year. Patients seen have a wide range of medical problems, with the exclusion of major Trauma. The incumbent is responsible for the daily administrative and clinical operations of the Emergency Department and reports to the Medicine Service Line. The incumbent will, as defined by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment. The incumbent will take part in continuing medical education and quality assurance activities. The highest degree of good judgment, ethical behavior and professional demeanor is always required in the incumbents contact with patients, peers and all other employees. The ED physician is expected to report out/in at each change of shift with the other ED physician for a hand-off of patient care. This hand-off must include a report of patient conditions, special instructions, etc. Written hand off is encouraged. A note must be entered on all patients that are seen by the ED physician. Hospital policies regarding documentation will need to be followed. Must be available for on call as identified on the published schedule. On call is defined as the ability to be on station within one hour. On call ED physician will provide coverage for the primary ED physician if they are unable to work their assigned tour of duty. On call duties are typically divided among all available providers for the rotation. Shifts are subject to change to ensure efficient use of medical center resources and appropriate levels of care are maintained. Physicians may be assigned duty as a supervising or collaborating physician for a Resident or mid-level provider. Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and review. Supervising or collaborating responsibilities and performance will be noted in the physician's performance evaluation. Prohibited abbreviations should not to be used. Clinical reminders should be addressed as appropriate. All documentation will be completed in accordance to VA guidelines. Special Assignment/Duties:
All Emergency Medicine physicians will be assigned administrative duties. For example, committee representation. These will be adjusted to the needs of the enterprise. Work Schedule:

United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
The Emergency Medicine Physician must be board certified in Emergency Medicine and maintain competencies as indicated in their delineation of privileges. All ED physicians must maintain current ACLS and BLS certification. Reference:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
