Incumbent is delegated responsibility for assigning staff for routine and non-routine duties on a daily and project-by project basis. Non-routine duties require that the incumbent be able to reorganize work schedules efficiently in order that work is accomplished in a timely manner. Incumbent is required to coordinate work with supervisors of other services within the incumbent's area of jurisdiction so as not to interrupt patient care or other activities. Incumbent is also responsible for cleaning in all patient care areas, all corridor spaces throughout the Medical Center, Operating Rooms, and all other areas as assigned. Incumbent is responsible for assuring the efficient and economical accomplishment of work assignments of subordinates within established policies and schedules set by higher levels of supervision. The incumbent plans daily and schedules periodic work for areas of responsibility, taking into consideration the availability of personnel and equipment to meet established policies. The incumbent trains staff and ensures that they are using the patient centered care principles in terms of their customer service to patients, patients' family members and personnel. Incumbent provides on the job training as necessary to ensure the housekeeping duties are effectively accomplished. Incumbent must give special direction to new employees in order to prepare them for individual assignments, procedures and safety policies. Incumbent must schedule regular meetings with staff to make them aware of any new procedure or directive. Incumbent must relay information in a supervisory daily report to the supervisor in writing, noting the condition of employees, unusual occurrences or any matters which should be brought to the attention of the supervisor. Must keep subordinates abreast of proper methods, procedures, and uses of equipment and supplies. Must also control the use of supplies and equipment to affect cost control within the unit. Incumbent may be assigned to conduct in-use testing of equipment and/or supplies, with written reports made in regards to their observation effectiveness. Incumbent is responsible to see that all safety regulations and procedures are observed; may on occasion be required to conduct training classes in safety. Incumbent is responsible to encourage and assist staff in the submission of suggestion under the current Incentive Awards Program. The incumbent approves leave requests for subordinates, counsels employees in oral and in writing and makes recommendations of disciplinary action to a higher level supervisor whenever non-compliance with policy warrants. The incumbent makes formal appraisal of subordinates work performance and conduct. Incumbent is responsible for the coordination of activities with other services, rearranging work schedules during remodeling, painting, and relocation of offices, clinics or patient wards. This includes helping coordinate the actual move. Incumbent must routinely inspect assigned areas to assure the timely accomplishment of employee assignments, that sanitation levels are being maintained, equipment properly cared for and that associated housekeeping objectives are accomplished in an expedient and timely manner. Incumbent is responsible for the daily inspection of assigned areas, along with an in-depth inspection of one building each week, reporting not only discrepancies in cleanliness but also needed maintenance repairs, broken or inadequately stored furnishings and equipment. Incumbent is responsible for the removal of furniture in need of repair and/or replacement along with the initiation of an electronic work request. Incumbent is responsible for the review of procedures, methods and sequence of tasks performed by employees under their supervision. This serves as a check to ensure that employees follow established procedures and to determine whether there should be changes to allow for better utilization of employees and more efficient performance of duties. Provides documented inspection reports and takes action on unaccomplished work. Checks for physical plant repairs needed throughout the assigned area and initiates required work orders. Experience:
A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position.
