Performs work of a general office support nature which encompasses a variety of different duties and responsibilities. Performs typing, office automation, stenography, and/or data transcription work at or above the established minimum proficiency level. Performs secretarial duties in support of an individual, and in some cases, the subordinate staff of that individual, as well, by performing general office work auxiliary to the work of the organization. Receives, schedules, refers and contacts members of the staff, agency and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public. Provides general clerical public contact support services such as answering the telephone, referring visitors, or providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures, as well as similar information. Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memorandums, and other forms of written communication. Performs the following types of duties:
edits letters, composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentation outlines, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries. Performs office automation duties using such software applications as electronic mail, desktop publishing, calendars, spreadsheets, databases, and/or graphics. Maintains calendars, appointments and schedules to include scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings, and/or scheduling conferences. Performs a wide variety of administrative tasks associated with maintaining and supporting the work performed within the organization. Acts as the primary liaison between the program office and administrative offices outside the organization. Performs other duties, as assigned Work Schedule:

Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the Gs-5. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education, as described below:

Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
