The incumbent will organize, coordinate, and prioritize simultaneous work assignments, performing various clerical and administrative duties and providing office automation support using multiple automated programs and software such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics. The incumbent will formulate budget, credit card, and other Service reports, and serve in the capacity as recorder for the Resources Management Committee preparing necessary agendas, minutes, and supporting documentation. Performs the full range of timekeeping responsibilities for the assigned staff. Receives, schedules, refers, and contacts members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the general public. Screens and personally answers calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements. Prepares a wide variety of recurring and some nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents and reviews and finalizes correspondence or documents prepared by others in handwritten or electronic drafts. Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing correspondence, materials, publications, regulations, and directives. Maintains supervisor's calendar, coordinates meeting arrangements, and schedules meetings and/or conferences. Obtains and monitors the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the office. Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:
Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. Specialized
Experience:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
performing a variety of duties such as:
receptionist, timekeeping, record keeping; utilizing a variety of automated systems to enter, update, revise, sort, and calculate data; and utilizing different ordering, reporting procedures, and purchasing methods to meet the purchase, rental, or lease needs of a Medical Center. OR, Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited college or university. (Note:
You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR, Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may require some walking, standing, bending, climbing, stairs, and carrying and/or lifting of light items such as papers and books. The work is performed in a typical office setting, involves everyday risks or discomforts, requiring the use of normal safety precautions typical of such places as meeting and training rooms, libraries, or commercial vehicles. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
